Robert Mobsby is a native of Glastonbury, Connecticut. After careers in the aerospace manufacturing business and as an industrial engineer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he returned to school to study voice with Claudia Pinza (daughter of the famed Metropolitan Opera bass, Ezio Pinza) at the University of Pittsburgh. Returning to Connecticut, he sang with Connecticut Opera, Connecticut Opera Theater, Commonwealth Opera and Connecticut Choral Artists, among others. He has pursued further vocal studies in New York with Metropolitan Opera baritone, Frederick Burchinal, Richard Hughes, William Riley and presently with David Jones. He now makes his home in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Mr. Mobsby continually demonstrates a distinctive approach to studying the compositional, lyric, and emotional elements of every selection, resulting in a depth of understanding that goes to the very heart of the music. From a purely vocal standpoint, Mr. Mobsby’s renditions combine his warm, sonorous tone with a crystalline edge that is entirely unique to him.
